Before starting money management RIA firm Dr. Harloff worked as a scientist-engineer-supervisor. He has specialized training in math modeling by earning Ph.D., M.S., and B.S.A.S.E. degrees in Aerospace Engineering. He has two U.S. patents, and held security clearances with D.o.D. and D.o.E. He began full time money management in 1995 and has over 40 years of original stock market research. He edits the monthly newsletter “The Intelligent Fund Investor” for 21 + years. He holds a series 65 securities license.
Dr. Gary Harloff, Ph.D.
Dr. Gary Harloff is owner, Vice President, and portfolio manager of Harloff Capital Management. Prior to becoming a money manager, Dr. Harloff earned a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, MS Engineering, and BSASE. He has roughly 100 classified and unclassified publications. He worked for about 27 years in AeroSpace and Energy including 10 years at NASA in Cleveland as a contractor in the area of computational fluid dynamics and propulsion aerodynamics. He held classified security clearances with D. o D. and D. o E. His math modeling background and scientific training led to significant original developments in investment methodology to benefit our investors.
Gary formed Harloff Inc. in 1981 to do stock market research and registered as an investment advisory firm in 1994. In his article “Dynamic Asset Allocation: Beyond Buy-and-Hold”, feature article in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities magazine in January 1998, he illustrates how to beat the buy-and-hold strategy with dynamic Asset Allocation. One of his original proprietary indicators is the Harloff Value Index, HVI. This universal index quantifies investment opportunity in mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and indexes in many types of markets, sectors, and countries. He developed a Wage-Employment-Driven Business Cycle Model in 2010 to predict the business cycle by mathematical first principles. He recently developed University Beta Strategies™ to market-time equity, bonds, energy, precious metals, emerging market equity, and U.S. dollar. Gary brings decades of math and market analytics to investor portfolio management.
